By doing this modification and following this how-to you, the installer, take full responsibility if anything is damaged or messed up. If you have questions, feel free to PM the original poster or ask in the appropriate section of The Ranger Station.com forums. Brief Explanation: this shows a basic guide to switching the Transmission on your F-Series Truck Tools Needed: -Socket sets metric and American -Hammer -Prybars -screwdrivers -wrech sets Parts Needed: -new Trassmisson -filter and oil -transfer case fluid if equipped with 4wd Steps: 1.Park the truck in a place that allows easy access to all components and preparing the tools and parts for quick access makes it much more easy when one isnt having to hunt for what you need. 2.disconnect the battery and remove the starter from the transmission 3.remove the front and rear drive shafts 4.drain the Transfer case and remove its linkages and then the case itself. 5.pull the torque converter cover plate manually turn the engine and remove the bolts disconnecting the Torque converter from the engine 6.Remove the shifter linkages and then start removing the bolts from the oil pan to drain the oil into the catch pan then move it under the bell housing area once the pans removed and the oil has drained. 7. Remove the bell housing bolts starting with the top two and taking the dipstick tube bracket off then remove all but the last two allowing the remaing oil to drain out. remove the last two bolts and lower the transmisson to the ground. 8.set the old transmisson aside and prep the new one. if its used change the filter in it and clean it up good so that if you have any leaks they are easy to pinpoint. 9.bring the new transmission up to the flywheel and bolt them togeather and put the bellhouseing bolts and dipstick tube back on as well as the cover for acuessing the flywheel. 10.Replace the Transfer case and the drive shafts 11.Replace the Starter and reconnect it 12. Reconnect the trasmission cooler lines then connect the linkages on the Trasmisson and transfer case and connect the NSS and Reverse lights Switches connector 13. Refill the Transfer case with the fluid called for and Refill the transmission with ATF 14. Reconnect the battery and bring the truck down off the jack stands and push it to a place with a clean surfise under it to aid in locating any leaks. 15. Start the truck and work the transmission through the gears and allow it to come up to operating temperature and check the fluid to ensure its in the proper range. 16. Look for any leaks and anything amiss and if nothing is move to step 17 if not troubleshoot and repair the problem 17. Go drive! Your done! ________
